April 25, 2016 (El Cajon) — A fire at a mobile home in El Cajon has caused an estimated $40,000 worth of structure damage and $20,000 to the contents.

Heartland Fire & Rescue crews from El Cajon, assisted by Cal Fire – San Miguel firefighters responded to the blaze at 10:45 p.m. Sunday night in the 400 block of Van Houten Avenue.  Fire crews arrived within 5 minutes to discover a fully involved, single wide mobile home and exterior shed on fire, says Sonny Saghera with Heartland.

Firefighters quickly attacked the fire, preventing it from spreading to the adjacent mobile homes on both sides. The woman resident was able to evacuate safely before the fire departments arrived.

No injuries were reported.  The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
