FIRE DESTROYS TRAILER HOME IN EL CAJON

November 24, 2012 (El Cajon)--Firefighters with Heartland Fire & Rescue in El Cajon responded to reports of fire at the "Turn In" Trailer Park in the 200 block of South Second Street at 1:25 a.m. Upon arriva,l firefighters found a trailer home in space 15 fully involved and threatening other nearby trailers. 

Heartland Firefighters, with help from a crew with San Miguel Fire Protection District, had the fire quickly contained and extinguished in less than 10 minutes.

The resident of the trailer home was able to escape unharmed.  There were no injuries reported. The displaced resident of the trailer home has been provided shelter by his neighbors of the trailer park.  The owner of the park is assisting as well. 

According to Heartland Fire Marshal Dave Hafey, the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.  The trailer home is a total loss with damage estimated at $15,000.  Neighboring property sustained minor smoke and heat damage.
