FIRE NEAR DEERHORN VALLEY

Update 3:02 p.m. -- Forward spread of this fire has been stopped; firefighters remain on scene mopping up hot spots.

September 5, 2010 (Deerhorn Valley) 2:40 p.m. – A roll-over accident at the 14 mile marker on Honey Springs Road north of Highway 94 has started a brush fire that is now 20 acres near the Deerhorn Valley Community.

 

Cal-Fire is on scene, assisted by the U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and San Diego Sheriff’s Department. Currently there are 10 engines, 4 fire crews, 2 bulldozers, 2 helicopters, 2 airtankers, 1 water tender, and 2 chief officers, either on scene or enroute for at total of 150 firefighters.

 

Structures are not immediately threatened. Honey Springs Road is blocked from Deerhorn Valley Road to Highway 94.
