March 5, 2024 (Lemon Grove) – On January 22,  immense flooding ripped through San Diego County, devastating many peoples' homes, businesses, vehicles and personal property. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Lemon Grove substation was inundated by floodwaters, which caused heavy damage to the interior of the station.

Luckily, only drywall and other building materials were affected, as all the computers or equipment were relocated to the Rancho San Diego station.  Sheriff’s staff from Lemon Grove is temporarily operating out of the Rancho San Diego location.

Fortunately, for local residents, wait times will not be affected as deputies will be dispatched to Lemon Grove immediately after checking in at the Rancho San Diego office. Evidence and other equipment, such as radios and receivers, will be kept there  until recovery is completed with efforts  already well underway.

Until then, the Lemon Grove office is completely closed. According to the Sheriff’s department, there should be no hindrance for the officers to perform their duties to the community, as the devastation has only caused  a mere inconvenience in their scheduling.

Residents and businesses that sustained flood damages can visit FEMA centers set up in Spring Valley and San Diego to register for federal relief efforts.
