May 28, 2023 (Poway) - In PowPac Theatre's presentation of Visiting Mr. Green, a dramedy by Jeff Baron, the power of connection takes center stage. The play revolves around Ross Gardiner, a successful executive reluctantly assigned by the court to visit Mr. Green, an elderly and grumpy widower, as part of his community service. What begins as an unfavorable obligation soon evolves into a heartwarming journey of friendship and personal growth.

Jared Keil brings Ross Gardiner to life, effectively portraying his initial reluctance and resentment. As Ross is accustomed to having his own way, the forced encounters with Mr. Green, portrayed by D. Kevin McGuiness, only amplify his displeasure. Mr. Green, a lonely and opinionated man, has been living in solitude since his wife's passing, carrying a weight of anger and sadness.

As the play unfolds, the audience witnesses the gradual transformation of their relationship. Spending more time together, Ross and Mr. Green embarks on a journey of understanding and healing. Ross learns valuable lessons in patience and empathy, while Mr. Green finds solace in releasing his emotional burdens. By the play's conclusion, Ross and Mr. Green have blossomed into genuine friends, appreciating their differences and discovering renewed purpose in their lives.

Visiting Mr. Green serves as a heartwarming testament to the resilience of friendship and the significance of human connection. It reminds us that, despite our misgivings, every individual has something meaningful to offer. The Upper West Side apartment, meticulously crafted by PowPac, serves as a dynamic backdrop, adding personality that complements the play's overall tone and enhances the audience's enjoyment.

Keil evokes empathy as he portrays Ross' initial reluctance, while McGuiness brings emotional depth to the demanding and frail Mr. Green. Together, they captivate the audience, keeping them fully engaged until the play's poignant conclusion.
