August 31, 2013 (El Cajon) – A free seminar on healthcare reform will be held at the East County Chamber of Commerce Office, 201 South Magnolia Ave., El Cajon on September 11 from 11:30 am. Until 1:00 p.m.  The seminar, presented by Erick Lundy, of Lundy Insurance Services, Inc., will address 2 critical issues affecting employers right now.

According to Lundy, “All of the small group health insurance carriers are putting together offers to “pre-renew” their group clients on effective December 1st of this year.  For many groups, electing to renew on December 1st this year will offer two potential advantages:

First, the renewal increase in premium will likely be lower than what the insurance carriers are indicating will otherwise go into place if a group waits until their normal renewal date in 2014.

Second, by renewing early in December, a group will be able to maintain their current plan of benefits until December 1, 2014.  This will allow groups to delay the implementation of new plans.”

The second issue is that the federal government recently issued a requirement that all employers provide each of their employees with a notice communicating that the “Exchange” in their state will begin operations on October 1st, 2013.  Lundy advised, “The Department of Labor has issued a “Model Notice” that can be used to satisfy this requirement.  Employers are required to provide this notice to all employees no later than October 1, 2013.”
