November 23, 2015 (San Diego’s East County) – If you’re traveling this holiday weekend, you may be in for a pleasant surprise.  Gas prices nationwide have dropped  sharply, with 60% of gas stations in the U.S. selling unleaded gasoline for under $2 a gallon.

That’s the cheapest in over a decade—and it’s because of a global surplus in oil production that has pushed prices down, USA Today reports.

That could mean good news for retailers, too, since the average driver in the U.S. will save about $75 from Thanksgiving to Christmas—adding a little more jingle to their pockets this holiday season.
