Classical menu brings on flavor, nostalgia and a bit of surprise

September 15, 2017 (Lemon Grove) -- With a fast approaching debut next month, the neighborhood eatery, Giardino, has finalized its menu and looks forward to opening its doors to the Lemon Grove community. Featuring Italian inspired cuisine in a welcoming and casual setting, the menu will feature a variety of classic dishes found throughout Italy.
Giardino’s menu from Executive Chef and Owner, Marco Provino, will feature flavorful dishes that use timeless Italian techniques and fresh ingredients. The restaurant advises that guests will find approachable, seasonally-driven plates that bring on nostalgia, including housemade breads and desserts. A selection of Antipasti start the menu off with Eggplant Rolls stuffed with ricotta, parmesan, mozzarella and tomato sauce, Crab and Pepper Stuffed Mushrooms in an herb and white wine sauce, and a delicate Steamed Mussels and Clams with garlic and cherry tomatoes. Next are Giardino’s Wood-Fired Pizzas, which will come from a custom-built wood-fired oven. The Chef pizza looks to awaken all the taste buds with mascarpone cheese, pancetta, spinach, fig jam and shaved parmesan, while the signature Giardino features seasonal garden vegetables, tomato and burrata.
Pastas are comforting and traditional, like Fettucini Carbonara and Linguine Vongole, but with a slight upgrade from Provino, like Penne with Wild Boar Sausage, peas, diced tomato, vodka cream sauce and shaved parmesan. Entrees also hit every note with Provino’s Pork Belly Roll stuffed with spinach, mozzarella, pancetta, fresh garden herbs in a mushroom sauce and mashed potatoes, Pistachio Crusted Salmon with spinach risotto and a mustard chardonnay cream sauce, as well as Cioppino with mussels, clams, fish, baby shrimp and calamari in a lobster tomato broth.
