April 15, 2011 (Rancho San Diego)--On Saturday, April 16, from 12 to 4:00 p.m., Heritage of the Americas Museum will host Craig Helm, certified appraiser, who specializes in Native American, pre-Columbian, antique pictures, guns, western memorabilia, and Asian artifacts.

In keeping with KPBS’s popular “Antique Roadshow,” the public is invited to bring in their unusual treasures so Craig can say what they are and what they may be worth.

The museum asks for a $5.00 donation at the Roadshow to support the nonprofit museum’s educational programs that benefit over 4,000 school children each year from throughout San Diego County. Admission to the museum will be free that day.

The Heritage of the Americas Museum is located on the campus of Cuyamaca College in Rancho San Diego.

For more information and to make reservations, please call the Heritage of the Americas Museum at 619-670-5194. Be sure to check the museum web site for more details: www.cuyamaca.edu/museum.

Museum Roadshow was great!

I went today and found out the old coffeepot Mom got at a flea market is actually a pretty good find -- made by a New England silversmith descended from one of the original Pilgrams.

Other people had even better luck -- especially the woman who found an ornate urn at a yard sale. Turns out it's from the Chinese Ming Dynasty - worth $15,000!

I've gotta hit some more yard sales.....:-)
