April 11, 2009 (El Cajon)—Holly, a former racing greyhound lost Thursday morning at Bradley Street and Highway 67 near Gillespie Field airport, has been found by El Cajon police following a doggedly determined search effort involving volunteers across the country. The brindle (brown striped) dog had only been in her new home for one day.

“Volunteers from the greyhound community nationwide (I am in New York City) and in some cases worldwide have been faxing, phoning, emailing and searching surrounding efforts in an effort to find Holly,” Carron Star wrote in an e-mail to East County Magazine on Friday. “I am writing to you in hopes that you can help Holly and her family.” Fortunately, flyers circulated via the Internet and in the community helped bring this story to a dog-gone happy ending.
