May 12, 2009 (La Mesa)-- – With the water restriction use being enforced on June 1ST Grossmont Shopping Center is hosting a Learn To Conserve event on Saturday, May 16TH in Macy’s Courtyard. The event will run from 10a.m. – 2p.m. Event partners will provide tips for water and electricity conservation and host fun demonstrations.

There is nothing like a run through a sprinkler on a hot day or returning from a long day to a cool home. However, as Summer marches in and temperatures are climbing, so is our demand for water. Throughout the day experts will provide demonstrations on efficient water sprinklers, display low water use plants, water saving irrigation products from sprinkler heads, drip irrigation to home owner irrigation timers, rotary type irrigation sprinkler heads, and tips about washing your car, and lowering your thermostat. Kids can make recycled crafts and the first 100 adults will receive a free canvas tote bag. There will be giveaways and free raffle prizes to be drawn at 2:00p.m.

Additionally, there will be an Electronics Disposal area on Saturday and Sunday next to Fuddruckers from 9:00a.m – 3:00p.m. Learn To Conserve is brought to you by Helix Water District, SDGE, The Brickman Group, The Water Conservation Garden at Cuyamaca College, Electronics Disposal Group and Barnes and Noble.
