HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION INTO DEATH AT RAMONA GAS STATION

November 3, 2017 (Ramona) – Sheriff's deputies from the Ramona Station responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon last night at 5:53 p.m. at the Stage Stop Liquor store located at 578 Main Street in Ramona.

Deputies found two men near the gas pumps. One had an apparent life-threatening significant injury to his neck, says Lieutenant Greg Rylaarsdam, with the Sheriff’s Homicide Detail. Deputies began lifesaving measures before the man was transported to an area hospital by air; but he later succumbed to his injuries.

Medics transported the second man with to an area hospital where he is currently being treated.

Detectives from the Sheriff's Homicide Detail are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident. The Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

No arrests have yet been made in this case.
