November 17, 2015 (Washington D.C.) – In a video released online, the Islamic State or ISIS has issued a threat to attack Washington D.C., our nation’s capitol.  The group called the slaughter in last week’s Paris attacks just the beginning.

Reuters reports that a spokesman in the ISIS video statese, “We say to the states that take part in the crusader campaign that, by God, you will have a day, God willing, like France's” adding, “as we struck France in the center of its abode in Paris, then we swear that we will strike America at its center in Washington.”

CIA Director John Brennan said the attacks in Paris should serve as a wake-up call for Americans, ABC News reports.

Authenticity of the video has not been verified and the FBI has not acknowledged a  credible threat, however, security has been beefed up at the U.S. Capitol, parks and monuments in Washington as well as at other key locations such as Times Square in New York, where a heavy presence of police, some in body armor, was clearly visible.

To date the U.S. has conducted 2,500 bombing raids against ISIS in Syria and Iraq, also arresting several ISIS terror suspects in the United States, The Hill and ABC news have reported.
