July 4, 2009 (Lake Murray) – Thanks to last-minute donations from community members, Navajo Events announced today that ample funds have been raised to have tonight’s 4th of July fireworks show at Lake Murray, capping off an all-day Music Fest.
Music kicks off at noon for the event, which is free. Here’s the entertainment lineup:
12:00-1:00pm - Pullman Standard (A younger type Rock & Roll sound, they played at SpringFest)
1:30-2:30pm - Lanuza (Latin Jazz)
3:00-5:30pm - The Surf City All-Stars (Beach Boys type music)
6:00-9:00pm - Rockola (Classic Rock and a lot of other music thrown in)
The fireworks show will begin immediately after Rockola finishes the group’s last song. Fireworks will not be simulcast with any radio stations. Instead, organizers have put together a custom soundtrack just for the Lake Murray fireworks show. To hear the music, you need to be near the main stage.
Food and drinks are available for purchase. Attendees are advised to bring a blanket, sunscreen, and frosty beverages in a cooler for the family-oriented celebration.
East County Magazine has publicized fundraisers to help save this annual East County tradition. Although enough has been raised to save the show, donations are still $1,000 short of covering full costs, and additional donations are requested.
