May 24, 2014 (Jacumba Hot Springs) – Jacumba Hot Springs (Jacumba) celebrates its Centennial with a major festival on Saturday, May 24th in downtown Jacumba. The Healing Waters & Arts Festival will stretch along Old Highway 80, from the old pink bath house ruins on the west end of town, east to the community park.

Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Parking and attendance are free. Attendees will enjoy Kumeyaay Bird Singers, Native American flute players holistic healers, New Age vendors, drum circles, bounce houses for the children, and many unique crafts, clothing and jewelry vendors. Also featured are multiple music venues, art walk with open studio tours, delectable food trucks, Pacific Southwest Railroad Museum display, Campo Motor Transport Museum displays, raffles for prizes and more, all in a beautiful high desert setting.

Mimi Kirk, former actress, and now sought after international celebrity speaker and chef, is the author of several best-selling raw foods cookbooks. She will give the Key Note speech about secrets to living a longer and healthier life.

The Healing Waters & Arts Festival, one of four planned for the Centennial year, celebrates Jacumba’s 'healing waters' heritage as a place for relaxation and holistic rejuvenation. It pays tribute to the Native American Kumeyaay peoples who first discovered Jacumba’s springs, and applauds the many artists who make Jacumba more interesting and vibrant.

Sponsors of the festivals include: Tom Brundy Hay Farms, County Proflame, Jacumba Hot Springs Spa & Resort, The Jacumba Chevron and Shell stations plus their Subway restaurant, Padre Janitorial Supply of Imperial Valley, SDG&E, Soitec, and Sempra.

Jacumba Hot Springs is nestled in a valley at 2800 feet elevation located in the mountains of eastern San Diego County. Its proximity to San Diego has made the community a popular ‘daycation’ or weekend getaway for San Diegan’s. Jacumba Hot Springs has much to offer: an enticing spa with hot mineral spring waters, scenic and accessible hiking trails, a Waldenlike lake, filled with numerous bird species, historic sites such as the Chinese Castle, the Desert View Towers and the ruins of the old bath house and bathing pools. For art lovers, there are colorful murals and other public art including five Ricardo Breceda giant metal sculptures.
