The El Cajon Animal Center for Education and Services (ACES) Foundation - Established in 2005 by East County community leaders and volunteers, the El Cajon Animal Center for Education and Services (ACES) Foundation is a private non-profit 501(c) (3) community organization dedicated to helping animals. It receives no government funding and is supported solely by contributions, grants, bequests, and fundraisers.

Constructed in 1957, the existing El Cajon Animal Shelter is today an aging structure deemed no longer adequate and far too small to meet the shelter needs of animals in East County. The 3,000 square foot facility shelters more than 3,000 stray or relinquished pets annually. The City of El Cajon has set aside a portion of Proposition O funds to be used for a new Animal Shelter facility. In addition to meeting the immediate needs of animals at the El Cajon Animal Shelter, the El Cajon ACES Foundation will seek to raise money to help equip the new facility.
All funds raised directly support the programs and services of the Animal Center for Education and Services under the direct supervision of the board of directors. Funds raised by the ACES Foundation may be used for:
  • Surgery and medications outside the scope of the Animal Shelter budget.
  • An Off-Site Visit/Adoption Program.
  • Educational brochures and adoption materials.
  • A Pet Socialization & Rehabilitation Program
  • Off-site diagnostic tests.
  • Educational programs.
  • Additional diagnostic and surgical equipment.
