August 21, 2014 (San Diego’s East County) – A Superior Court judge may rule Friday on a state proposal to place convicted child molester Allen Fields in Campo. If the housing plan is approved, he would be the sixth sexually violent predator placed in rural East County in recent years.

The hearing will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday in San Diego Superior Court Dept. 35, 220 West Broadway in San Diego.

At a hearing in July, Supervisor Dianne Jacob joined residents in protesting the Fields proposal. While he has been surgically castrated, Jacob and others say the pedophile should be kept behind bars due to a string of heinous crimes with young boys.

Allowing sexually violent predators to live in the community endangers public safety, says Jacob. Five predators have been placed in rural East County in recent years. At least three later violated the terms of their release.
