JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION AT MALCOLM X LIBRARY JUNE 19

June 11, 2013 (San Diego) – African American Writers and Artists, Inc., San Diego in collaboration with International Action Center San Diego present a Juneteenth Celebration on June 19, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Malcolm X Library and Performance Arts Center, 5148 Market St., San Diego.  The event’s theme is “Are we there yet? Pulling back the curtain on Racial Equality in America.”

The event is free to the public and will feature speakers from the International Action Center and COP Watch, as well as poetry, music and dance.  There will also be “Juneteenth Cuisine” featuring BBQ Chicken, Ribs, Pulled Pork, Hot dogs and Hot Links, Potato salad, Macaroni Salad, Baked Beans, Green Beans, Macaroni & Cheese, Sweet Potatoe Pie, Pound Cake, Red Soda and Red Lemonade.  A donation is requested for the food.
