August 18, 2018 (El Cajon) -- The critically-acclaimed and award-winning Kidz Danz Kompany, San Diego’s premier children’s dance company, presents “The Red Cloak," a re-telling of the fairytale Little Red Riding Hood at Greenfield Middle School Theater (1495 Greenfield Drive, El Cajon, CA, 92021) on September 7-8, 2018 @ 7 p.m.
Directed and choreographed by Artistic Director Spencer John Powell, co-choreographed by Belle Martin and the Kidz Danz Kompany Dancers, all together these artists create a wonderful re-telling of the beloved classic fairytale.
SuSu (Little Red Riding Hood) embarks on a journey around the world in search of help for her ailing grandmother. She visits such beautiful countries such as Mexico, Ireland, Nigeria and many more. In her travels, SuSu encounters many colorful and fantastical characters that befriend her and bestow upon her gifts of health and care to take back to her grandmother. Along the way SuSu is followed by the big bad wolf who actually ends up becoming her saving grace. In the end, SuSu discovers that we are all members of a world community and we must all come together to guarantee the health and well-being of all citizens of the world.
Guest Artists include Flavor Company Dance Entertainment, the parents of Kidz Danz Kompany, and Fit for Drums. Beautiful and lively costumes by Debbie Solan for Kidz Danz Kompany and Belle Martin for Flavor Company Dance Entertainment.
Kidz Danz Kompany, San Diego’s premier childrens’ dance company, is a youth and performance-based program that explores all dance genres with a strong theatre background. KDK is unique by producing professional-level dance concerts and preparing young dancers for a life in the performing arts by providing professional-level training and coaching. This distinguished, critically acclaimed children's dance company was founded in 1994 by Spencer John Powell in Utah and now is hosted by Visionary.
