LA MESA POLICE NAB 2 SUSPECTS FOR ROBBERY AND POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY

February 10, 2009 (La Mesa)--The day after two pedestrians were robbed at gunpoint by a masked man, Antonio Rattler (photo), a 20 year old from La Mesa,was arrested for the robberies by the La Mesa Police Department.

On February 9, 2009, in the late evening hours, a masked man armed with a gun robbed two pedestrians within thirty minutes of each other in the Parkway Drive/Fletcher Parkway area of La Mesa. Police checked the area at the time but did not locate the suspect.

The next night, around 11:30 PM, Patrol Sergeant Angela DeSarro spotted Rattler, who matched the description of the robbery suspect, in the 7800 block of Parkway Drive. Rattler was found in possession of the ski mask and a handgun, later identified as a replica BB gun, which matched what the suspect used during the robberies.

Police continued the investigation throughout the night and early morning hours. This led to recovery of one of the robbery victims' cell phones. A second man, Ian White, of La Mesa, was arrested for possession of the stolen phone.

Rattler was booked into County Jail on two counts of robbery.

White was booked into County Jail for one count of possession of stolen property.
