October 13, 2016 (Lake Murray) — Roderick Lamar Harris, 32, has been arrested on suspicion of fatally shooting his live-in girlfriend, Vanessa Bobo, 29. According to police, the killing occurred in front of Bobo’s 5-year old son; her 1-year old son by Harris was a lso in the apartment in the 6400 block of Lake Arrowhead Drive.
Harris fled the scene but was later arrested in Chula Vista. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries that police have said were self-inflicted. He is expected to be transferred to County jail while awaiting arraignment.
Neighbors told police they heard the victim and the suspect arguing prior to the shooting.
10 News reported that while on the run, Harris posted on Facebook, “Sorry for what it looks like but I had a breaking point emotional abuse and cheated and lied and always under the threat of losing my child I guess in the end I still lose."
In another post, he said to his son: "I love you **** I was always there just so you know."
The 5-year-old boy is being cared for by his father. The 1-year-old, who is Harris’ son, is reportedly staying with relatives.
A GoFundMe page for Bobo’s two sons had raised more than $23,000 as of Thursday night.
