MOTORCYCLIST KILLED NEAR JULIAN WAS SAN DIEGAN

May 26, 2016 (Julian) – The Medical Examiner’s office has identified Andrew Grettenberger, 55, of San Diego as the motorcyclist killed on May 23rd in a solo-vehicle crash near Julian.

Grettenberger was riding a Harley Davidson westbound on State Route 78 west of Sutherland Dam Road when he missed a curve a struck a chain link fence. He was ejected and thrown down an embankment.   

A bystander provided CPR and first responders later arrived, but despite aggressive medical intervention he succumbed at the scene to injuries sustained in the accident.

Drugs or alcohol were not factors in the crash, said Officer Kevin Pearlstein with the California Highway Patrol.
