MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS CLOG AREA HIGHWAYS; FLOODING ALSO REPORTED

November 20, 2010 (San Diego) – Rain-slicked highways this evening are the scenes of numerous vehicular accidents, including serious accidents on highways 67, 52, 8, 15 and 805 as well as surface streets.

Southbound lanes of State Route 67 are blocked just north of Slaughterhouse Canyon, where a vehicle has overturned and CHP has just arrived on scene.

Another vehicle has overturned on Highway 52 westbound near Mission Gorge Road in Santee, where a patient is bleeding from the head.

A woman has suffered a spinal injury in a rollover accident on I-15 south at Gopher Canyon Road north of Escondido.

 

A rescue is underway to help three trapped motorists in an overturned car on I-805 near I-8, just south of Murphy Canyon Road.
 

Flooding is reported on Camino Del Norte at Camino San Bernardo; the roadway is reportedly impassible.
 

At least 2 lanes are blocked at westbound I-8 near Mission Center Road due to a multi-vehicle collision.
 

On Bonita Road at northbound I-805, an ambulance is responding to a collision.
 

CHP is en route to an accident at I-805 northbound and Adams.
 

Several additional non-injury crashes have occurred around the county. Use caution on the roadways tonight.
 

Heavy fog is reported in some areas of east County, including sections of I08 east of Alpine and valleys in Lakeside.
 

The number 4 lane is closed on southbound I-15 is closed between Centre City Parkway and El Norte.
 

Additional closures on I-15 at Escondido are possible tonight and tomorrow as authorities continue searching for explosives at an Escondido home where 9 pounds of powerful explosives have already been discovered and detonated.
 

More rain is forecast for tonight and tomorrow, with snow likely at higher mountain elevations.
