NATIONAL SECURITY EXPERT TO SPEAK ON MIDDLE EAST CRISIS NOV. 20 IN EL CAJON

November 11, 2014 (El Cajon)--The East County Democratic Club (ECDC) will focus on the Middle Eastern crisis brought on by actions of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) (also known as the Islamic State of Iraq in the Levant (ISIL)) on November 20, 2014.  Dr. Todd Myers will address the issues involved at 7 p.m., at Coco’s Restaurant, 1026 Fletcher Parkway, El Cajon.   The public is invited to the meeting, without regard to membership in the club or party.

Dr. Myers is Associate Professor of Economics and Political Science at Grossmont College.  Before coming to Grossmont, Dr. Myers worked as a consultant dealing with national security affairs and was a mentee in the Office of the Honorable Alexander Meigs Haig, Jr., (General (Retired), U.S. Army) and former Secretary of State under Ronald Reagan.

His degrees include a Ph.D. from Louisiana State University and A&M College, an M.P.A. from the E.J. Ourso School of Business at Louisiana State University, and B.A. in Social Sciences and Business from Eureka College.  He also studied at Heidelberg University in Germany.

He has been a recipient of awards from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Earhart Foundation, the German Exchange Service, the Freeman Foundation, and Grossmont College.  Dr. Myers directs the Institute for Social, Political, and Economic Research, a student-centered think tank dedicated to cultivating the talent of future academic, political, and business leaders.  In addition, Dr. Myers acts as a mentor for graduate students with the Institute for Humane Studies at George Mason University.
