NEWS BULLETIN: FIRE IN MEXICO

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version Share this

August 10, 2009 (Campo) - If you see smoke over East County, don't panic.  A large fire is burning in Mexico, just south of Campo. However it poses no threat to Americans on this side of the border since the wind is blowing in the opposite direction, CAL-FIRE Battalion Chief Nick Schuler assures us.

Should a threat arise that impacts the San Diego County region, we would activate our wildfire alert service.  With fire danger high, we advise all readers to urge friends, family and coworkers to sign up for our free wildfire/emergency alert e-mail service, which can reach you even if phone lines or cell phone towers burn down.  Just click the "subscribe" button at the top of this page - it's free!
