Meet candidates in Lakeside on April 22

March 27, 2026 (Lakeside) – Voters are invited to the “Candidates to Constituents Town Hall” series. The series is hosted by Alpine resident Anne Tillmond and features local, county & state candidates that voters can connect with over three town halls. The first C2C town hall is on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026 in Lakeside from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.

ABOUT THE CANDIDATES:

Gerald Boursiquot is the Democrat running for CA State Assembly District 75. His opponent is incumbent Republican Carl DeMaio.

Gerald Boursiquot is a veteran, union member, educator, Uber/Lyft driver, father, and active member of the Fallbrook community. A lifelong public servant, Gerald is running to bring real representation to working people—not the political elite.

He served 22 years in the Air Force and Navy as a Communications Technician, was a UAW auto worker with General Motors in New York and now teaches as an Adjunct Professor at Palomar College.

Gerald deployed to the Middle East, served in Lithuania 10 miles from the Russian border when Russian-backed separatists seized Donbas buildings in April 2014, and in Niger during the Boko Haram crisis in 2018. He fought wildfires in Northern California, helped vaccinate thousands during COVID, and provided security during civil unrest with the Air National Guard.

Dr. Cody Petterson is a Democratic candidate running for CA State Board of Equalization, District 4. He’s running against several other candidates in the primary elections, including Martin Arias, Denis Bilodeau, Gardner C. Osborne and Sen. Tom Umberg.

Dr. Petterson is a lifelong resident of San Diego. where he is raising two children. He is a graduate of UC Berkeley, the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, and UCSD, where he obtained a Ph.D. in Anthropology.

He currently serves as Chief Deputy of the California State Board of Equalization, Fourth District, helping to oversee the annual property tax assessment of utilities, the certification of organizations for affordable housing property tax exemptions, and the equalization of assessment practices across California's 58 counties. He also sits on the boards of the San Diego River Conservancy, San Diego International Sister Cities Association, and Volcan Mountain Foundation, and has previously served on the La Jolla Town Council, Sierra Club San Diego Executive Committee, and Resource Conservation District of Greater San Diego Board of Directors.

Dr. Petterson also represents Subdistrict C (La Jolla, University City, Mission Bay, and Point Loma clusters) on the San Diego Unified School Board. He has helped lead the district's education workforce housing program, recently completing the approval of 2,500 units of affordable staff housing across five sites in San Diego's urban core. He also serves as Chair of the San Diego Regional Housing Finance Authority, which is currently developing its strategic plan to spur the production of transit-supportive, amenities-adjacent, mixed-income housing in San Diego.

When he isn’t working, teaching, or single-parenting, Cody is an ocean swimmer, avid hiker, and California native plant enthusiast.
