OFFICER SHOOTS CROWBAR-WIELDING SUSPECT

September 1, 2012 (El Cajon) – El Cajon Police officers responded to 911 calls at noon today reporting that a man armed with a crowbar was chasing another man in the 500 block of East Main Street. When the first officer arrived and exited his vehicle, the suspect, armed with the metal bar, charged at the officer.

The officer fired several rounds, striking the suspect in the stomach, leg and hand.  The suspect was transported to a hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries, Lt. M. Coit reported.

The suspect’s name has not yet been released, but police described him as a white male, age 38.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the El Cajon Police Department at 619-579-3311.
