OTAY, CHULA VISTA GEAR UP FOR CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION SATURDAY

October 14, 2011 (Chula Vista) -- Residents in Otay and Chula Vista are gearing up for the celebration of a century.  The City of Chula Vista is celebrating its 100th birthday with a citywide party at the U.S. Olympic Training Center this Saturday, October 15 from 12 noon to 9:30 p.m.

 

Festivities include a music festival, carnival, military flyover and fireworks. The event takes place at  2800 Olympic Parkway Chula Vista, with free shuttle service from Otay Ranch Town Center.

The fun begins at noon and will conclude at 9:30 p.m. following fireworks and a much anticipated rock concert by Multi-platinum recording artists P.O.D. Visit www.ChulaVista100.com/party for more information.

 

Here are a few updates before the big day:
• Free Gate Admission.
• The day will feature something for everyone: music festival, fireworks, carnival & pony rides, car show, a variety of food and drinks, craft brew & margarita garden, Olympic preview and the Twist of Lemon tasting area.
• See Chula Vista Middle School’s Choir perform live with P.O.D.!
• Watch skydivers fly the American flag into the Olympic Training Center.
• Bring your blankets to watch fireworks and concert on the Olympic soccer field.
• Pick up a Commemorative Coin, souvenir T-shirt and receive a free backpack when you buy the Centennial Book
• First 1,000 kids get a Centennial Medal after completing the Rec & Roll Olympic obstacle course.
• Watch BMX athletes and try it yourself on the development track.
• Check out U.S.A. Rugby in action on the practice field!
• Meet Olympic Athletes!
• Free roundtrip shuttle service from Otay Ranch Town Center to the event.
• Ride your bike and use the bike valet at the front gate – Don’t forget your bike lock!
• Disabled parking will be available in the OTC’s upper lot with a valid placard.
• Carpool with your friends and family – parking is available across from the OTC and at New Hope Church for a nominal fee of $5 cash.
