November 10, 2013 (Pine Valley) -- Fall is a fabulous time to take a drive through East County's backcountry.  The photos on this page were taken yesterday along Old Highway 80 from Guatay to Pine Valley, where trees wear coats of gold, rust and crimson on these late autumn days.

Other areas where I've seen spectacular fall foliage on display in past years include Lake Cuyamaca, and Warner Springs.   As an added bonus, Mom and I also found some two-foot-long pine cones along a roadway, perfect for holiday decorating!
