August 17, 2016 (Spring Valley) - Thanks to Kreg Kearly for sending in these dramatic images of the Pointe Fire in Spring Valley taken by his son, Kerouac Geoffroy-Kearley. The brush fire threatened homes and forced evacuations in Spring Valley on Wednesday. 

Photo 1 (cover) is the County Fire Helicopter making its first drop on the western edge of the fire. 

Photo 2 (right) is one of the Air Tankers from the Ramona Tanker base dropping retardant near the homes that were thre

atened.

Photo 3 (left) is a ground crew facing a flare-up on the western edge. Remember that it is nearly 100 degrees in the shade. 

Photo 4 (below right) is SDG&E’s Ericsson Air Crane Tanker dropping fire retardant.
