November 2, 2011 (San Diego) -- San Diego Police Department Homicide Unit detectives are investigating the September 12, 2011 shooting death of Raymond Garcia. The vehicle was apparently purchased in El Cajon.

On September 12 at 9:47 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 6700 block of Radio Drive. They arrived to find Garcia suffering from a gunshot wound.  Paramedics transported him to a trauma center, where he died at 2:00 p.m.

The investigation has revealed Garcia was walking alone on Radio Drive when a burgundy-colored pickup truck approached from the east.  The vehicle stopped near Garcia and he appeared to have a brief conversation with the occupant before gunshots were heard. The pickup truck was last seen westbound on Radio Drive.

Ruben Sanchez, (53) has been arrested for the murder of Garcia and is currently in custody. The truck used in the crime is still outstanding.  Detectives have determined it to be a burgundy-colored 1995 Ford F150 Eddie Bauer Edition, with the license plate (California) 5E02825.

Anyone with information regarding the truck or about this incident is encouraged to call the Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
