Update 8:35 a.m. - The search has ended and the suspect was not located.
March 15, 2012 (La Mesa)- - The La Mesa Police Department is currently involved in a police activity in the area of Myrtle Lane, Johnson Drive and Fletcher Drive, LMPD announced shortly before 6 a.m. With help from Sheriff's K-9 units La Mesa Police is searching the area for a suspect described as a Hispanic male, 6 feet 1 inch tall, 180 pounds, wearing a black hoodie and white shoes.
The suspect was in possession of a handgun which was recovered but it is unknown if he has another weapon.
Police advise that you avoid this area. Residents in the immediate area are asked to stay indoors. Please call 911 if you see anybody matching the description of the suspect.
