April 11, 2010 (San Diego) -- Yesterday, volunteers from San Diego were met with gratitude by earthquake survivors , delivering food, water, tents, toys and hope for thousands left homeless near the epicenter in Mexico—including a one-day-old infant christened “America.”

“Thanks to all that have so generously donated and supported Border Angels so we can help the Mexicali Valley/Calexico earthquake victims,” said Enrique Morones, founder of the organization. “Yesterday we had eight truckloads of supplies we personally delivered to our indigenous brethren in Cucapa, La Mision, La Playa and surrounding areas in the epicenter area of the quake in Baja, Mexico.”

More help is needed, he emphasized, adding that another caravan will depart Saturday. “There is still a tremendous need for supplies, food, water, blankets, jackets, non perishable food and especially sleeping bags/tents. Tax deductible donations may be made online at www.borderangels.org , or drop off non-monetary supplies at any of the sites listed below.
