March 20, 2015 (Alpine) – Lou Russo, an outspoken former member of the Alpine Community Planning Group, may soon be back on the board, the Registrar of Voters office has confirmed.

James Roe defeated Russo on the November ballot, but moved out of the area for a job prior to the election and is thus ineligible to take the seat.

Roe did inform the Registrar of Voters but amid the election bustle, the paperwork was overlooked, Russo told East County Magazine.

Following consultation with County Counsel, Andrew Spurgin at the Registrar of Voters sent Russo an e-mail confirming his eligibility to regain a seat on the planning group.

Spurgin stated in the e-mail, “I have been given direction that you will be eligible for the seat of James Roe due to the issues you have identified in this unusual situation.”

To take the seat, Russo will first have to complete training required for all community group members, as well as financial disclosure forms due by March 31st.
