May 26,2016 (La Mesa)--The City of La Mesa shows its patriotic spirit with the 19th annual La Mesa Flag Day Parade:  "A Salute to Old Glory!"  You can bring the entire family to this good old fashioned Red, White and Blue parade on Saturday, June 4th. The Grand Marshall this year is Cabrillo National Park in honor of the National Park Service's 100th anniversary.

Pre-parade concerts start at 9 a.m., along the La Mesa Boulevard parade route, featuring La Mesa Arts Academy and Parkway Middle School bands.  The parade begins at 10:00 a.m. led by the United States 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band through downtown La Mesa Village.  View the many floats, military vehicles, active and retired war heroes, equestrian units, service organizations, youth groups, bands and much more.

Afterwards, you’re invited to join La Mesa's Human Relations Commission for a FREE community ice cream social at La Mesa Boulevard and 4th Street, north side.  In addition you may wish to walk through La Mesa's quaint village and see the Historical Legacy Project, the new downtown Historic Photo Plaques etched in metal, Walk of Fame, antique and vintage shops, and restaurants that make La Mesa the "Jewel of the Hills."
