July 13, 2011 (Escondido) --  San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum (SDCDM) announces a new home in historic downtown Escondido.  The new location has more than 12,000 square feet of space (half indoor, half outdoor) for educational exhibits and programming to serve tens of thousands of people annually.

“The City of Escondido has supported the Museum for years because we believe in its mission and positive impact in our community. We are excited to continue that support through this time of growth and change,” said Sam Abed, mayor for the City of Escondido.

Locals are expected to frequent the Museum on a daily or weekly basis, visiting for birthday parties or other celebrations, seasonal camps and more.  In addition, special-needs group programs will be offered.  SDCDM will be a more visible asset for Escondido, serving as a destination for families from across north San Diego County, California and other states.

San Diego Children's Discovery Museum is in partnership with the Association of Children’s Museums, San Diego Museum Council, Mission Federal ArtWalk “KidsWalk”, Rotary Club of Escondido, Kiwanis Club of Escondido, San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau and other nonprofit and business groups that help expand the reach of the Museum and further enhance its reputation and offering as a critical asset in the region.
