February 26, 2017 (San Diego) — On Thursday, March 16, 2017, three seasoned technical editors and writers—Sara Feldman, Mark Fogg, and Elizabeth Gray—will participate in a panel discussion at the next program meeting of the San Diego Professional Editors Network (SD/PEN). The panel, “Technically Speaking: The Nuts and Bolts on Technical Editing and Writing,” will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the San Diego County Health Services Complex.
Fielding questions from a moderator and attendees, the panelists will each discuss how they became technical writers and editors, the various tech industries and opportunities in San Diego, how one would go about breaking into the field, potential opportunities for contract work, and more.
Sara Feldman has 10 years of experience as a technical writer, primarily in the software industry and focused on online support. For the past 20 years, Mark Fogg has worked exclusively at Solar Turbines, where he has served as senior technical editor and ghostwritten everybody from struggling technical writers to executives. An independent contractor, Elizabeth Gray worked as a senior technical writer/editor for Cubic Corporation for more than 15 years, broken up by a five-year stint at Qualcomm.
The cost is free to SD/PEN members and only $10.00 for nonmembers. The evening will include snacks and beverages as well as the opportunity to network before and after the presentation.
RSVP via email to pr@sdpen.com no later than Wednesday, March 15.
