SCISSORS-WIELDING SUSPECT ROBS AM/PM STORE IN LA MESA

July 9, 2012 (La Mesa) – This morning at 1:46 a.m., La Mesa Police responded to a report of a robbery at the AM/PM at 4925 Spring Street in the city of La Mesa.

According to the police, the clerk told officers that he was working behind the registers when the suspect walked into the store and demanded cash. When the clerk told the suspect that he didn’t believe he had a gun, the suspect pulled a pair of scissors from his pocket and walked behind the cash register counter. 

 
The suspect continued his demands for cash and then took a metal box from a shelf below the registers. The suspect fled the store with the metal box toward Spring Street.

Officers searching the area for the suspect found the metal box on the ground a short distance away. The cash box was open with cash littering the ground around it. The scissors used during the robbery were also recovered. The suspect was not located and the amount of cash taken has not been determined. The clerk was not injured during the robbery.

The suspect is described as a black male in his mid 40’s, 5’5” – 5’7”, medium build, wearing a black button up shirt with the sleeves cut off and light colored pants. The suspect concealed his face with a dark piece of material wrapped around his head.
