Peres becomes Aztecs’ fourth NFCA All-American in school history

May 31, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego State softball junior catcher Jenavee Peres (Garden Grove, Calif.) has been named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Second-Team All-American on Wednesday. The three All-America teams are voted on by coaching representatives for the NFCA throughout the country.
Peres is the fourth NFCA All-American in school history, but is the first Aztec to make a second team. Shortstop Hayley Miles (2012), pitcher Samantha Beasley (2010) and catcher Erin Floros (2006) all were third-team NFCA All-America selections in the past.
Peres, who also was a first-team all-NFCA West Region pick, the Mountain West Player of the Year and a first-team all-MW selection, batted .454 on the season with 56 runs, 74 hits, 16 home runs and 60 RBIs, while posting a .840 slugging percentage and a .492 on-base percentage. Among the national leaders, Peres ranks fourth in batting average (.454), RBIs per game (1.25) and runs per game (1.17), 10th in home runs per game (0.33), 11th in slugging percentage (.840) and total bases (137), 18th in sacrifice flies (5), 29th in hits (74), 56th in on-base percentage (.492).
Peres shattered the previous school record of a .429 batting average with her .454 and tied a SDSU best with five sac flies. She also ranked second in school single-season history in slugging percentage, RBIs and OPS percentage (1.332), third in runs and total bases, fourth in on-base percentage, tied for fourth in extra-base hits (29), fifth in hits and home runs, and tied for seventh in times hit by pitch (5).
Over her career, Peres is hitting .409 with 34 homers, 131 RBIs and 112 runs, while recording a .466 on-base percentage and a .743 slugging mark. Heading into her final season in 2018, Peres owns school records in batting average (.409), on-base percentage (.466), slugging percentage (.743) and OPS percentage (1.209). She’s also tied for second in sac flies (9), third in RBIs (131), fourth in home runs (34) and times hit by pitch (12), fifth in extra-base hits (63), sixth in runs (112), eighth in total bases (298) and tied for 10th in doubles (26).
