February 21, 2024 (San Diego) - The San Diego State women’s basketball team (18-10, 9-6) beat Air Force (12-16, 5-10) 73-63 inside Viejas Arena Wednesday night for their seventh win in the last nine games.

The Aztecs finished the game on a 20-4 run and forced the Falcons to miss their final 11 shots.

“We are excited that we could sneak away with a win,” Head coach Stacie Terry-Hutson said after the game. “Air Force is a scary team to play because they play hard and are always prepared. I was proud of how we played in the second half, we made them take tough shots and made sure to get the rebound when they missed.”

Jada Lewis led SDSU with 21 points, her fourth time scoring 20 or more this season. Kim Villalobos had her sixth double-double in conference play with 17 points and 12 rebounds, and Jazlen Green added 13 points and seven rebounds while drawing eight fouls.

The score was close throughout with neither team leading by more than seven until SDSU pulled away late.

Air Force led by six early in the fourth quarter only for the Aztecs to go on a 6-0 run to tie it up and then holding the Falcons without a field goal down the stretch.

The Aztecs were 19-for-27 from the free throw line and outscored Air Force 38-24 in the paint.

SDSU struggled with turnovers in the first half, but had just six in the second half while causing 20 Air Force turnovers on the night.

Air Force was led by Dasha McMillan’s 20 points.
