December 21, 2023 (West Palm Beach, Fla.) - The Aztec women’s basketball team (9-4) pushed their win streak to five games with a convincing 75-48 win over Florida Atlantic in the West Palm Beach Classic Thursday.

SDSU had 19 assists and just seven turnovers and shot 49 percent from the field while holding the Owls to a 30 percent clip.

“We followed the defensive game plan,” Head coach Stacie Terry-Hutson said after the game. “We were mentally locked in for both games here and I was proud of our effort.”

Statistically there were contributions up and down the roster. Meghan Fiso led SDSU in scoring with 13 points on 5-for-6 shooting, Adryana Quezada had 12 points, Kim Villalobos had 11 and a career-high eight assists and Abby Prohaska had 10 points and a career-high 14 rebounds.

Freshman Mia Davis scored her first collegiate points and finished with eight points.

“Mia hasn’t played a lot of basketball the past couple years and she worked really hard to get back,” Terry-Hutson praised. “She can really play and looked good out there today.”

The Aztecs never trailed and started the game on an 8-1 run. The Owls were able to tie it up at 12 at the end of the first quarter, but SDSU responded with a 9-0 run and led by double-digits for nearly the rest of the game, buoyed by 57% shooting in the second half.

A day after holding Kennesaw State to 3-for-27 shooting from three, SDSU limited FAU to 5-for-19 shooting Thursday.

SDSU outscored the Owls 20-4 in points off turnovers and 32-18 in points in the paint.
