January 3, 2024 (Colorado Springs, Colo.) - The Aztec women’s basketball team (10-5, 1-1 MW) lost in overtime at Air Force (8-7, 1-1 MW) 71-63 Wednesday evening.

SDSU led by as much as 12 points in the second half but went cold from the field and struggled with turnovers down the stretch.

Adryana Quezada (15 points and 10 rebounds) and Kim Villalobos (10 points and a career-high 14 rebounds) both had double-doubles and Abby Prohaska just missed one with 12 points and nine rebounds.

The two teams traded runs in the first quarter before both cooled down. In the second quarter a 10-0 SDSU run helped the Aztecs build a seven-point lead. SDSU held the Falcons to two points through the first six minutes in the second quarter.

SDSU’s 12-point lead quickly disappeared after an 8-0 Falcon run in a stretch of just 80 seconds.

The Aztecs were down two late in the game, but Quezada scored on a driving lay-in with 11 seconds left to tie the game up. SDSU then got a stop on the other end with an impressive defensive play by Alyssa Jackson.

SDSU made just two field goals in the overtime period.
