 UPDATE March 11:  Lucero is now in custody.

 

March 10, 2010 (Valley Center) - The San Diego Sheriff’s Department seeks David Leroy Lucero for questioning regarding the murder of his mother yesterday in Valley Center. Though not yet named as a suspect, a Sheriff department special bulletin states that he "may be armed and possibly violent."

 

Lucero, 25, is described as a native American with brown hair and brown eyes, 5 feet 11 inches, weighing 165 pounds.

 

The body of Margo Lucero, 53, was discovered around 1 p.m. yesterday by her husband in their home at 29312 Costalota Road in Valley Center. Family immediately called authorities, who confirm the body had multiple injuries consistent with a homicide. Her vehicle was subsequently found in Arizona.

 

If you know of David Lucero’s whereabouts, do not attempt to contact him, officials caution. Instead call 911.
