SHOOTING IN EL CAJON

October 30, 2016 (El Cajon) — A man was shot in the leg Friday at 12:40 p.m. outside a cell phone kiosk in the 1000 block of Decker Street in El Cajon.  

According to Lieutenant Steve Kirk, officers responded to reports of gun shots heard. They found evidence of a handgun being fired and contacted the victim at a local hospital.

Per witnesses, two male suspects approached a temporary kiosk on the sidewalk where three to four people were signing up for free cell phones.  A physical confrontation took place. The two suspects went back to their vehicle and retrieved a handgun. 

The suspects fired at least two rounds, one of which struck the victim in the leg. The suspects then fled the scene in a dark sedan. One suspect was described as a black male adult and the other was described as a light to medium skinned adult male. 

The victim, who suffered non-life threatening injuries, was driven to the hospital by a friend before police officers arrived on the scene.
