November 1, 2016 (Alpine) - Local teens are determined to help their best friend as she fights bone cancer by organizing a major fundraising event.

Samantha Bodger, 16 years old, who lives in Alpine and is a top student at Granite Hills High School, was diagnosed with High Grade Osteosarcoma in August 2016.  She requires 10 months of intensive chemotherapy and a major surgery to amputate her leg mid-November.

On November 11, 2016 from 4:30 – 8:00 pm at the beautiful Campbell Creek Ranch on 3535 Alpine Blvd. in Alpine, Samantha’s best friends will bring the community together to show support to Samantha and raise funds for her medical needs and care subsequent to her surgery to amputate her leg.  This special fundraising event will be a family friendly “concert in the park” gathering with multiple ways for guests to show their support to Samantha including writing inspirational cards to Samantha, participating in the silent auction and raffle, and purchasing Samfam shirts, hats, bracelets and bumper stickers. There will be live entertainment featuring the Alpine Dance Academy and local, talented musicians including Phili Villalobos, Raelee Nikole, Chapel and Whimsy.  Dinner, beverages, and baked goods will also be available at the event.

Samantha is strong, incredibly kind, and positive as she focuses on her bright future and gratitude for her family, friends, and community for all of the support she receives.  Samantha’s best friends have created a positive opportunity for others to come together to show their support and generosity to a most special young person battling a devastating disease.
