May 10, 2018 (Jamul) -- Talented wildlife photographer Debbie Ekhaml spotted this Lazuli Bunting in Jamul.  These beautiful, brilliant blue songbirds are "rare" in our region, though Ekhaml says she's previously seen one at Lake Cuyamaca, too.

This bird is named for the gemstone Lapis Lazuli and is recognizable by its bright blue hue, white wingbars and rusty patch on its chest.
