July 22, 2016 (Munich) - Six people are dead in a shooting that occurred at a mall in Munich, Germany.

The shooting comes just days after a truck ran over people at a Bastille Day celebration in Nice, France.  This week, also in Germany, a teenager who says he was inspired by ISIS stabbed passengers on a train before police shot him dead.

German police say that the attack began at a McDonald's across from the Olympia shopping mall, the city's biggest shopping center and a popular destination for shoppers on Friday nights, at around 5:50 p.m. GMT (8:50 a.m. PT).  Witnesses say gunfire was also reported in the mall and at other locations and that they saw three people with firearms.

"The manhunt is underway at high speed," police said. "Because of the unclear situation we ask all people in the city area to stay at home or to look for protection in any nearby building. The operation of public transportation service has been stopped."
