August 10, 2015 (Spring Valley) – A man accused of stealing a gun from a sporting goods store and then carjacking a woman’s car outside the Albertson’s on Campo Road in Spring Valley Sunday evening is now under arrest.

According to Sergeant David Toner with the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to the carjacking report at 7:30 p.m.  The suspect reportedly threatened the victim with a handgun before stealing her white Ford Taurus.

About 15 minutes earlier, a man matching the suspect’s description stole a black pellet handgun and ammunition from the Big 5 Sporting Goods Store on Campo Road, threatening the clerk as he exited the store without paying.

The suspect was described as a black male adult, 30 to 35 years old, 6 feet 2 inches tall with a medium build and hair in braided corn rows with at least two pigtails. He wore a black shirt and black pants.

About 20 minutes after the carjacking, the stolen Taurus was involved in a hit and run traffic collision at Dehesa Road and Harbison Canyon Road.

Sycuan Police Department detained the suspect, Kevin Williams, a 37-year-old parolee at large who matched the suspect’s description. Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at the scene and a curbside line-up identified the suspect.

The Ford Taurus was recovered in the casino’s parking structure. Williams was booked into county jail on charges of carjacking, robbery and felony warrant.

California Highway Patrol is handling the collision investigation. Detectives from the Rancho San Diego Sheriff’s substation are assisting with this investigation.
