START SMART DRIVING CLASS FEBRUARY 21

January 28, 2013 (Alpine) – In response to the alarming teen fatality trend the Alpine Sheriff’s Station is hosting “Start Smart” for parents and teens (ages 15- 20) on February 21 at 7 p.m. at the Viejas Training Center, 5000 Willows Road, Alpine. The goal of the program is to reduce the number teen driving related injuries due to drunk and distracted driving.

The class will address teen and parental responsibilities related to driving, risk factors for collisions, including texting while driving, automobile insurance implications and applicable Vehicle Code sections.

Seating is limited so RSVP by February 19 to Crime Prevention Specialist Nancy Ortiz, 619-956-4022 or nancy.ortiz@sdsheriff.org.  A parent must accompany their teen driver throughout the presentation.
