May 5, 2016 (La Mesa) – A suspect remains at large after ramming two vehicles including a police car in La Mesa early this morning, then fleeing the scene.

La Mesa Police received a call at 4:50 a.m. reporting a suspicious vehicle in the 5600 block of Amaya Drive. A female and two males were in the vehicle.  The female was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, but when officers tried to get the male driver out of the vehicle, he resisted and backed the vehicle into a parked car.  He then drove forward, colliding into an unoccupied, marked police car.

Both vehicles had minor damage. There were no injuries.

The suspect fled the scene and his identity is unknown, says Captain Matt Nicholass.

Shortly before 9 a.m., a citizen called and reporting finding a loaded firearm on the round near where the altercation occurred. The investigation is continuing.
